舟運や山居倉庫、花笠祭り、そして良質なお米の始祖とされる「亀の尾」。
山形の発展の傍らには、常に「米」がありました。

私たちが着目したのは、収穫期の田園に立ち現れる「稲架掛け」。
交差する支柱に一本の木を渡すだけの、合理性と美しさを備えた原初的な構造をモチーフに、
地域の記憶を現代の暮らしに編み直すベンチを設計しました。

In designing furniture rooted in Yamagata,
we began by exploring the region’s history and the forms that embody its identity.

River transport, the Sankyo Warehouses, the Hanagasa Festival, and Kamenoo, known as the origin of high-quality rice.
Throughout Yamagata’s development, rice has always been at its core.

Our focus turned to Hasagake, a structure that appears in the rice fields at harvest time.
With its crossed supports and a single horizontal beam,
this primitive structure embodies both rationality and beauty.

Drawing from this form, we designed a bench that reweaves the memory of the region
into the fabric of contemporary life.
