山形から生まれる家具を手がけるにあたり、
この土地の歴史を紐解き、地域の特異性を象徴する造形とは何かを探ることから始めました。

リサーチを通じて改めて浮かび上がってきたのは、
最上川の舟運、山居倉庫、花笠祭り、そして良質なお米の始祖とされる「亀の尾」の誕生など、山形の発展の傍らには、常に「米」の存在があったという事実です。

「米」というキーワードから私たちが着目したのは、収穫期の田園風景に現れる「稲架掛け（はさがけ）」の姿でした。
交差する支柱に、一本の木を渡すだけ。
極めてプリミティブでありながら、合理性と美しさを兼ね備えた構造。
その純粋な造形に宿る佇まいをモチーフとして、このベンチを設計しました。
お米とともに歩んできた地域の記憶を、
日々の暮らしに寄り添う「原風景」として、現代の生活空間に置き直す。
そんな佇まいを目指した、ベンチの提案です。

In creating furniture born from Yamagata,
we began by exploring the history of the land and asking what kind of form could embody its regional character.

Through our research, one fact became increasingly clear:
alongside the development of Yamagata—its river transport on the Mogami River, the Sankyo Warehouses, the Hanagasa Festival, and the birth of Kamenoo, regarded as the origin of high-quality rice—
rice has always been an inseparable presence.

From the keyword “rice,” our attention turned to hasagake,
the traditional rice-drying structures that appear across the countryside during harvest season.

A simple construction: intersecting supports with a single beam laid across them.
Primitive in form, yet both rational and quietly beautiful.
Inspired by the presence and purity of this structure, we designed this bench.

This bench seeks to reinterpret the memories of a region shaped by rice,
placing them back into contemporary living spaces as an everyday “original landscape.”
