Koeda Armchairは、のびやかに広がる樹木の枝葉をモチーフにした、新しい構造の椅子です。
豊かな森に恵まれた土地、旭川。
この地では、木材を単なる素材として消費するのではなく、
森や資源との関係性を大切にしながら、木と向き合ってきたものづくりの文化が育まれてきました。

その土地から生まれるに相応しい家具とは、
自然への配慮と共生の姿勢を、造形として静かに表現する存在であるべきだと考えました。

樹木が持つ自由な輪郭をデザインに取り入れることで、
この椅子が「木」という素材の特性から生まれたものであることを、あらためて感じられる造形を目指しています。

枝分かれした脚部は、樹木の枝を想起させるラインを描き、
旭川の高度な曲木技術を活かした、新しい接合構造として実現しました。

また、緩やかに流れる楕円形のアームは、おおらかな印象を与え、人を包み込むような、旭川の自然環境の広がりを表現しています。
自然の輪郭を写し取ったこの佇まいが、
日々の暮らしの中で、人と自然の関係性にあらためて目を向けるきっかけとなることを願っています。

Koeda Armchair introduces a new structural approach inspired by the freely spreading branches of trees.
Asahikawa is a region blessed with rich forests.
Here, a long-standing culture of craftsmanship has developed—one that approaches wood not merely as a material to be consumed, but as a resource shaped through an ongoing relationship with the forest.

We believed that furniture created in such a place should quietly embody an attitude of respect and coexistence with nature, expressed through its form rather than through overt symbolism.
By incorporating the organic and unrestricted contours of trees into the design,
this chair aims to reaffirm its origin in wood as a material, emphasizing the inherent qualities and character that come from it.

The branched legs trace lines reminiscent of tree limbs and are realized through a new joint structure made possible by Asahikawa’s advanced bentwood techniques.
The gently flowing, elliptical arms create an open and generous impression, reflecting the expansive natural environment that surrounds the region.
We hope that this silhouette—shaped by the contours of nature—will serve as a quiet reminder in everyday life of the relationship between people and the natural environment.
